The tip is wider
than the wax.
A swab is blunt and the canal is narrow. Some wax catches on the cotton and comes out, which is the part you see. The rest gets pushed ahead of the tip, deeper than it started. That's the part you don't see, and it's the reason the problem tends to compound rather than resolve.

Fair question, and it's the one this page has to answer honestly. We're not claiming this device is exempt from that advice or that it's endorsed by anyone. The difference we're offering is narrow: a cotton swab gives you no information, so you keep going by feel and you don't know when to stop. This gives you a live picture. Plenty of people are going to clean their ears either way, and doing it while looking is a better position than doing it blind. What does a swab actually do to the wax?
The cotton tip is blunt and wider than the space it's entering. Some wax sticks to it and comes out, which is the visible part. The rest is pushed ahead of the tip and ends up further in than it started. Repeat that regularly and material accumulates deeper in the canal rather than clearing.
Is that footage real?
Yes. It's the live feed from the tip camera streamed to the app. Not a simulation, not stock footage.
